Gyotaku Fish Print-Red Snapper

$125.00
sold out

Gyotaku is a Japanese technique for printing fish. In the late 1800’s, Japanese fishermen would take a fish from the days catch, ink the fish to make a print, and hang it up at market as an advertisement of their day’s catch. Now it is considered an art form. This is an American Red Snapper fish that Bill caught near Destin Florida. It’s printed on an 18×34.5 piece of raw canvas, finished at the top and bottom with cedar wood and sisal rope to make a complete wall hanging. The overall dimensions are 21.5×38-inches. The Snapper measures 27-inches.
